| Body |
The medium sized body blends Siamese elegance with
Burmese roundness; well-muscled rump of medium length; legs
medium in length; dainty paws, oval shaped; tail fairly strong at base, tapering
to slightly rounded tip |
| Head |
Wedge shaped skull with softly rounded contours; high cheek bones; curved profile; strong chin; muzzle massive and
rounded, with muzzle break, but no pinch. Viewed from the front, the head looks like an equilateral triangle. |
| Ears |
Large, with slightly
rounded tips; slightly tilted forward; wide set, placed as much on the side of the head as on the top. |
| Eyes |
Large and slightly slanted towards the outer ear edge; the upper lid almond shaped, the lower lid
rounded; eye colour to be uniform brilliant aquamarine / light turquoise shade, characteristic of this breed. |
| Coat |
Very short, fine and silky, but dense; firmly close-lying to the body, no undercoat |
| Colour Varieties |
Natural mink, Champagne mink, Blue mink,
Platinum mink and Honey mink are
accepted coat colours. The mink-like
sheen all over the body is characteristic.
Natural means seal, champagne means chocolate,
platinum means lilac, honey means fawn.
In all colours varieties the underside of body is
slightly lighter shaded than the back. The body
colour is free of any markings and barring. Only
the points are evenly slightly darker, thus
contrasting with the body colour. In kittens and
juniors faint ghost markings and a lighter colour
all over the body should be tolerated. |
| Remark |
This cat is a mix between Siamese and Burmese. Too strong resemblance
of the Tonkinese to one of its original breeds, in coat colour or in type, is undesirable. |
Association info
|
The WCF was founded on 1988 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by three
clubs which were seeking for more democratic and human procedures in the cat fancy, more than other
existing federations ever had. Right now the WCF consists of more than 540 clubs throughout the
world covering all continents including the Untited States.
The WCF is registered
in Germany as "eingetragener Verein" and - when European community is ready - in Brussel
as an European federation, too.
The WCF takes part at consultations, arranged by the
European parlament in Strasbourg, and is responsible for animal welfare and legislation in some
working parties and hearing. A WCF member, wether it is a club or a federation, is independent
in his business.
The WCF?s responsibilities are ...
* international cattery registration
* education, training and examination of the international judges
* standards and points
* giving rules and classes at shows
* international liaisons
